Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What types of therapy do you offer?

We offer virtual individual therapy for adults, tailored to your unique goals and lived experiences. Our practice is deeply rooted in South Florida’s cultural diversity, and we proudly serve clients from a wide range of backgrounds, including Black, Latinx, Caribbean, and multicultural communities. We take a culturally responsive and affirming approach, integrating evidence-based methods while honoring identity, background, and intersectional experiences.

  2. Do you offer telehealth (online therapy)?

Yes, we exclusively offer secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth sessions for clients located in Florida (and in any other states where our therapists are licensed).
All you need is a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera. This flexible option allows you to access therapy from wherever you feel most comfortable and focused.

  3. What if I’ve never been to therapy before?

That’s completely okay! Many clients feel nervous at first. Our goal is to create a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly, explore your feelings, and move toward positive change at your own pace.

  4. Can you prescribe medication?

No, we do not prescribe medication. However, we can collaborate with your primary care provider or refer you to a psychiatrist if medication management is part of your treatment plan.

  5. Are your services available in other states?

If you are physically located in a state where we hold a valid license (currently Florida, Virginia, and South Carolina), we can provide telehealth sessions there.

  6. How long will I need to be in therapy?

There’s no set timeline; therapy is unique to each person. Some clients find meaningful progress in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term work. We’ll regularly review your goals and progress together.

  7. Do you accept insurance?

We do accept insurance, though some clients prefer self-pay to maintain greater privacy and flexibility in their care. Paying privately also allows us to take a more holistic approach to your well-being, one that isn’t limited by insurance requirements or diagnostic labels. We’re happy to discuss which option best fits your needs and goals.

  8. What important questions should I ask my insurance company?

Do I have mental health or behavioral health benefits?

Does my policy cover outpatient psychotherapy services?

Does my policy cover telehealth services for therapy?

What is my copay per session?

Are there any specific restrictions around the service, such as limited sessions?

Is the therapist I want to work with in-network or out-of-network? What does that mean for my copay?

  9. What are the costs of therapy services, and what forms of payment do you accept?

Our therapy services are available to self-pay clients. We accept major insurance providers, including Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare, as well as HSA/FSA cards. For information about session fees and payment options, please contact us directly.

  10. Do you offer consultations?

We offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation as a first step in getting to know one another. This call is an opportunity for you to share what brings you to therapy and to ask any questions about our services, approach, or next steps.

Our goal is to ensure that you feel confident and comfortable before moving forward. If for any reason we determine that your needs may be better met elsewhere, we’ll provide a warm referral to another trusted provider or resource.

This consultation allows us to begin building a foundation of trust, the first step toward meaningful, personalized care.
